All three candidates’ websites have their own distinct styles. Senator Bella’s website utilizes calm colors and a sky backdrop to reinforce an approachable aesthetic. Conversely, Senator Ben uses a more formal format employing muted colors and simple geometric aspects to allow for an easy browsing experience and relatable feeling. Lastly, Governor Jack, like his other democrat counterpart, uses light colors and red, white, and blue outlines to make him seem more patriotic.
However, each candidate display flaws in their web presence. Along with advertising her campaign on her own website, Senator Bella has yet to add her opening speech which was due two weeks ago. This omission brings into question her priorities regarding which information about herself she allows to be seen and her commitment to keeping the American people informed. Governor Jack opens his website with a picture attacking his opposing candidates and has seemingly comedic based pictures of himself placed next to his rather serious platform proposals which brings into question his sincerity regarding his campaign. Governor Jack has a link that introduces his campaign team, a feature that his opposing candidates do not have, attesting to his transparency with his constituents.
In terms of social media presence via Instagram, Governor Jack, in both follower counts and posts outranks the other candidates. Regardless, a considerable amount of his posts seem to target his opposing candidates with the rest of his posts concerning his progress in the presidential race and support from other candidates. Governor Jack’s hard-hitting criticisms and memes of his opposing candidates has gained him support from other candidates from the opposite side of the aisle. Most notably he has received support from extreme republican candidate Texrexman who has proven to be one of the most polarizing candidates out of all of the elections.
Senator Ben, on the other hand, has objectively the least amount of media presence with only fifty followers and seven posts. His tactics seem to stay away from directly attacking other candidates and focusing on keeping his supporters informed on the progress of his campaign. Recently in his most controversial post, Ben went after opposing candidate Governor Jack and his tendencies to eat high end muffins. It will be interesting to see how this new method of posting will impact his support in the long term. While having almost the same number of followers as Governor Jack, Senator Learn’s posts have been pretty plain when compared to those of the other candidates, with the exception of her intense Instagram feud with Governor Jack. With Senator Bella’s polling numbers as low as they are, it is imperative that her campaign make a drastic change to her social media presence if she is to have any chance at a comeback in this election.
